Perhaps in an effort to seem more casual about his desire to spend a weekend with Brittany in Kansas, Lane focused his excitement on his Bucket List. That Bucket List item? Being the baseball fanatic that he is, Lane has set out to visit every Major League Baseball stadium in the country. “This was PERFECT,” Lane thought. “A great excuse to visit Brittany since I haven’t made it out to Kauffman Stadium yet!”So, Lane arranged a weekend of fun for the two in the Sunflower State, which of course, included a road-trip to Kansas City to watch a Royals game!

 I suppose Lane wasn’t planning on the two hitting it off to the degree they did, because the pair couldn’t stop talking. So much, in fact, that Lane and Brittany were very late to the ballgame… Sixth inning late. In their defense, however, the stadium is about a three-hour drive from Brittany’s home in Wichita. But, their connection spanned the test of time… literally. Brittany had set numerous alarms to let the two know they needed to get on the road, but, those alarms, largely, went unanswered. Lane said he didn’t mind, so they continued chatting for hours.

 They finally left Wichita city limits and were on their way. The game had, in fact, already started. Their first road trip together was comfortable – the conversation continued. Lane made Brittany laugh, as he still does, belting out different, incorrect lyrics to her favorite songs.

 They made it to “The K” and were SO late that they didn’t have to pay for parking. The two found their seats and watched three of the shortest innings of baseball Brittany had ever watched. (She enjoyed the company). They walked a quick full-circle of the entire stadium, as is required to cross off a stadium on Lane’s Bucket List, and bought a baseball. Buying a baseball at each stadium is another requirement.

 The Royals lost that game, but I think it’s fair to say Lane and Brittany won.

It’s also worth mentioning that the Kansas City Royals went on to win the World Series. #MeantToBe

 And so… the weekend included more of the same. But, by the end of their first visit together, Lane knew he wanted to be with Brittany… In Lane’s words, “Things got real!” Lane asked Brittany to be his girlfriend, which caught her off guard. Even still, she couldn’t say, “No.”
