For Lane and Brittany, a long-distance relationship meant getting creative and savvy when it came to flying to visit each other. So, shortly after the New Year, after Lane had met Brittany’s parents and asked their permission to propose, they met up in Denver, Colorado. (Lane was in no rush to pop the big question, mind you, he just knew it was important to Brittany to ask her parents’ permission in-person.) *This is important… you’ll find out why at the end of this entry.*

Lane’s older sister and her sweet family live in Denver and they were WONDERFUL hosts to the couple. From Downtown Denver tour guides during pre-Super Bowl Denver Broncos excitement – to taking Brittany to what was her first NBA game featuring the Denver Nuggets, it was a weekend filled with fun activities! Let’s not forget the amazing food and treats, including Bonnie Brae Ice Cream!

For Brittany though, it was the quiet (and admittedly, sometimes loud and laughing) moments spent with Lane’s loved ones that meant the most. Brittany fell in love with Lane’s nieces and nephew that trip. From family shopping trips and cookie tasting, to intense YMCA basketball games that kept Brittany on the edge of her seat… To, yes, the #OMG teenage girl speak conversations, and family dinner time, fun was had by all! Lane couldn’t help but like what he saw.

Brittany couldn’t deny the connection she continued to feel with Lane and his sweet family. The way Lane’s sister speaks about him, how Lane treats his nieces and nephew, and how much he loves them… it’s impossible to deny! Brittany was in love with it all… and she wanted, so much, to one day become part of this family.

In the end, after being stressed she’d never find a ring because she didn’t know what she wanted, Lane and Brittany stopped into a local jeweler that caught their eye. That’s when they found it – Brittany’s ring.
